Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and commercially minded professional to manage high-value programmes that improve essential public services and support long-term environmental resilience.


The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for project planning, delivery, governance, and performance. Duties will include defining project scope, developing delivery strategies and programmes, managing budgets and forecasts, and ensuring projects meet agreed standards for quality, safety, environmental compliance, and customer outcomes. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate designers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, and establish effective communication and reporting arrangements. The role will also involve identifying and mitigating risks, managing change control, resolving technical and commercial issues, and ensuring that procurement and contract administration activities are delivered effectively. You will provide senior-level advice, prepare progress reports and business cases, and contribute to continuous improvement across the wider project portfolio.


Applicants should have substantial experience managing major water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering, or related infrastructure projects, ideally within a regulated or client-side environment. A strong understanding of project management methodologies, construction delivery, contract management, health and safety legislation, and environmental requirements is essential. Experience with NEC or other relevant forms of contract, programme controls, cost management, and stakeholder engagement will be highly valued. You should be an effective leader and communicator, capable of influencing at all levels and making sound decisions in complex and changing circumstances. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is preferred, together with membership of an appropriate professional body.
