People like you!Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Production Operator to join our team of skilled professionals based at our Sylacauga, Alabama plant. This state of the art manufacturing plant produces premium asphalt roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous manufacturing process environment. Position Overview Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for running the Production line. This includes operating machinery, ensuring that raw materials are fed properly through the manufacturing process, resolving line stoppages, clearing equipment jams, verifying finished products against quality specifications, and ensuring that products are properly prepared for shipment.Key ResponsibilitiesAdhere to safety policies, programs, proceduresInspect raw material and finish products per quality specificationsConduct quality checks at regular intervalsOperate manufacturing equipment in accordance with standard work instruction.Operate counterbalance, propane-powered forkliftEnter waste, downtime data into system.General housekeeping dutiesAdditional duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum 2 years' experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction industry preferredMinimum 1 year of proven forklift operating experience preferredComfortable with standing for extended periods of timeManual dexterityAttention to detailAbility to follow direction and specific instructionsGood communication skills; Fluent in English - Reading, Writing and SpeakingPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basisMust be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shiftMust be able to work at heights and in confined spacesThis is a full time unionized permanent position.
