Most days you'll work with the same crew on the same routes, which means you learn your properties and your customers see the same faces every visit. We pay bi-weekly, provide all equipment and PPE, and our current Lawn Foreman started as a crew member in 2022.## What we're looking for### Required* 18 or older* Authorized to work in the US* Able to work outdoors in summer heat and cold weather* Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for 8+ hours per day* Reliable transportation to our Olathe shop (we provide trucks and trailers from there)* Show up on time. This one matters more than experience.### Preferred (not required)* Valid driver's license - opens the path to crew lead* Previous lawn, landscape, or outdoor work* Bilingual English/Spanish - useful for crew communication, paid the same either way* Experience operating commercial mowers, trimmers, or blowers## What we offer* **Pay:** $17-$22/hour depending on experience. Crew members with 1+ season of mowing experience start in the upper half of the range.* **Overtime:** 1.5x hourly rate for all hours worked over 40 in a Sunday-Saturday week. Applies year-round.* **Schedule:** Standard workday is 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Start times 6:30-7:00 AM in mowing season. Most days end 4:30-5:30 PM. Saturday work as needed in peak weeks.* **Pay cycle:** Paid bi-weekly. Pay periods Sunday-Saturday over two weeks. Paychecks issued on Friday seven days after the period closes. Direct deposit by 3:00 PM on payday.* **Hours:** Year-round work. Full hours April through November. Reduced winter hours, supplemented by snow operations for crew members who join the snow team - snow pay is 1.5x hourly with a 4-hour minimum per event.* **Equipment provided:** All mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, and hand tools. Trucks and trailers based at our Olathe shop. Uniform package rented at start ($60 deducted from first paycheck, $60 returned on final paycheck if uniforms are returned). We provide gloves, eye and ear protection, and hi-vis shirts. Boots and weather gear are on you.* **Paid holidays:** 7 paid holidays per year - New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas. To be eligible, you must be employed at least 60 days before the holiday and work the scheduled day before and the scheduled day after.* **Paid time off (PTO):** Eligible employees accrue PTO at a rate set in their employment agreement. Up to 5 days carry over to the following year.* **Group health, dental, and vision:** Available. Plan details from the plan administrator after hire.* **Continuing education and certifications:** The company pays application fees, exam costs, license fees, and license renewals for in-state professional registration relevant to your role. Refresher courses pre-approved.* **Salary reviews:** Annual, in March. Reviews use a five-criteria rating system (attendance, accuracy, attitude, advancement, efficiency); reaching 80% of total points qualifies you for a raise.* **Career path:** Lawn Maintenance Crew Member | Crew Lead (with DL) | Foreman | Lawn Care Applicator (with certification) | Account Manager. Our current Foreman walked this path starting in 2022.## About Hometown LawnHometown Lawn was started by David and Holly Brucker in 2010 in Olathe, Kansas. We do residential and commercial lawn maintenance, irrigation, drainage, snow removal, and landscape work across Johnson County and the KC metro. We are also one of the few lawn contractors in the region prequalified by KDOT to bid municipal capital improvement projects directly.
