Senior Program Director of Movement Infrastructure

Role Description

The Senior Program Director of Movement Infrastructure will work closely with the Center for Empowered Politics (CEP) / CEP Education Fund Leadership Team and Movement Infrastructure Team on the strategy, design, implementation, and evaluation of movement infrastructure interventions. This position will be part of the Movement Infrastructure Team and will be supervised by the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

• Movement Infrastructure Cohorts (40%)
  • Provide strategy, leadership, design, training, coaching, and evaluation to support the development of key operations and security infrastructure in California and nationally.
  • Design and lead programs and cohorts of organizations focused on security systems and practices, 501c3 compliance, 501c4 operations, multi-entity strategies and systems and process design.
  • Provide capacity building and accompaniment support to partner organizations in the Resilient Strategies network and other aligned organizations.
  • Represent CEP(EF) and develop relationships and collaborations with other movement infrastructure projects, allies, funders, and formations to advance our shared agenda.
  • Conduct evaluations and collection of key data to support ongoing research and learning to support movement infrastructure projects.
• Coaching, Facilitation and Training (25%)
  • Provide coaching, facilitation, or training support to partner organizations in systems, processes and platforms related to finance and accounting, human relations and employee management, technology, compliance, administration and operations, governance, change management and organizational development.
• Special Projects (15%)
  • Lead emergent movement infrastructure projects as determined based on the Senior Director’s expertise, interests, and CEP(EF)’s needs.
• Team and Project Management and Supervision (10%)
  • Provide management and oversight to Movement Infrastructure Team and projects to develop the strategy, priorities, goals, and work plans that align with our long term agenda and northstar.
  • Supervise staff to advance our strategies and goals and support their growth, performance, and sustainability.
  • Strengthen internal systems and processes to support the ongoing collaboration and coordination across multiple team members, consultants, and projects.
• Organizational Leadership (10%)
  • Participate in CEP/CEPEF staff and organization building, including team and relationship building spaces, strategy and workplan development, and alignment and learning across projects.
  • Support and participate in programs, committees, and organization-wide activities as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a director level staff position leading operations work within a movement building organization (grassroots, labor, or community organizing).
• 8+ years in a director level staff position leading program design work within a movement building organization (grassroots, labor, or community organizing).
• Subject matter expertise in at least 3 of the following areas: systems, processes and platforms related to finance and accounting, human relations and employee management, technology, compliance, administration and operations, governance, change management and organizational development.
• Experience and leadership within a multi-entity environment.
• Rooted in an analysis of power and the role of basebuilding leadership development, campaigns, and civic engagement work in creating social change.
• Self-directed and able to design, launch, and manage projects across a range of organizations and sectors.
• Ability to think strategically and make assessments of opportunities and threats within the political landscape.
• Advanced skills in project management, and coordination across multiple organizations and entities.
• Strong skills in change management, organizational development, and culture building.
• Strong skills in facilitation and coaching within a change management process.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Experience with online tools for remote communication and project collaboration.

Physical Demands

• Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other equipment.
• Able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
• Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in person and be understood by others.
• Able to hear and understand speech at typical levels and on the telephone.

Work Environment

This is a remote role (preference for San Francisco Bay Area). Regardless of home location, employees should expect to attend in-person events in the Bay Area (6-8 times/year) and to other regions (6-8 times/year) outside of the Bay Area.

Compensation

This is an exempt position. The salary range for a full time employee working 40 hours/week is $125,000 - $150,000 depending on experience. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
