Pharmacy Technician - Kalaheo, HI

Located in Kalaheo, HI, this contract Pharmacy Technician opportunity is available to start immediately for a 13-week engagement. The role supports hospital pharmacy operations by assisting Pharmacists in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services following established protocols. This position includes day and weekend shifts, contributing to essential patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Pharmacists by preparing physician orders, including unit dosed oral medications, reconstituted medications, topical medications, and IV solutions.
• Prepare intravenous, epidural, or intrathecal solutions using sterile techniques per SOPs and sterile compounding regulations.
• Ensure all drug orders are checked by the Pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Maintain safety and infection control standards, reporting unsafe conditions or equipment.
• Manage telephone inquiries while triaging correctly according to guidelines.
• Keep pharmacy areas clean, well-stocked, and safe for patients and staff.
• Pre-pack unit dose medications and remove outdated stock from shelves and automated dispensing machines.
• Perform routine stocking of pharmacy shelves, automated machines, crash carts, and emergency medication boxes.
• Deliver medications promptly to patient floors or authorized personnel.
• Respond to special requests from Pharmacists related to pharmacy or emergent patient needs.
• Adhere to assigned breaks and comply with competency assessments and confidentiality standards.
• Employ proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous substances.

Additional duties may include maintaining refrigerator temperature logs, managing I.V. inventories, conducting narcotic pulls, unpacking and stocking medications per Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements, assisting nursing with Pyxis troubleshooting, and completing special projects.


Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Pharmacy Technician registration issued by the State of Hawaii Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a pharmacy setting (community, hospital, or medical institution) assisting Pharmacists in pharmaceutical services.
