Senior Formulator, Liquids Technologies

Position Senior Formulator, Liquid Technologies – Beauty (Drybar & Curlsmith) Location & Schedule Marlborough, MA (Hybrid – in‑office Tuesday‑Thursday, remote Monday & Friday, subject to business need). Key Responsibilities Lead formulation strategy from concept to commercialization, ensuring performance, safety, regulatory, and quality compliance. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product Development, Regulatory, and contract manufacturers to translate consumer insights and emerging technologies into innovative products. Evaluate raw materials, design, develop, and optimize formulations; identify performance, cost, and sustainability improvements. Plan, execute, and analyze stability, compatibility, safety, and efficacy tests with external partners. Oversee scale‑up activities, including pilot and manufacturing trials; troubleshoot formulation or process issues during development and commercialization. Support regulatory compliance, gather raw‑material documentation, and prepare technical documentation (formulations, specifications, reports). Adhere to GLP, safety protocols, and quality standards. Serve as technical expert and mentor to junior chemists, suppliers, and external laboratories; collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Packaging, and other teams. Provide technical guidance for claims substantiation and product communication. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field. ≥7years of personal‑care formulation experience; hair care experience preferred. Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, stability testing, claims substantiation, and process development/scale‑up. Experience working with external contract manufacturers and raw‑material suppliers. Knowledge of cosmetic regulations (non‑OTC/OTC). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to work in a lab environment and office (50/50). Flexible work schedule, including occasional early/late calls, domestic travel up to 25%. Authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Core Skills Excellent oral and written communication. Strong project management, teamwork, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills. Creative mindset; ability to manage a large volume of diverse projects. Compensation Base salary: $95,000–$120,000annual (Massachusetts only; actual salary may vary by location, experience, skill, and performance).
