Head of Infrastructure & Energy Credit risk

We are partnered with a leading global investment manager seeking a Head of Infrastructure and Energy Credit Risk. The role serves as a senior risk leader with responsibility for independent credit decision‑making, portfolio oversight, and people management within the vertical. The successful candidate will provide authoritative credit recommendations, oversee end‑to‑end diligence processes, partner closely with origination and investment teams to shape strategy, and deliver strong sector‑level risk perspectives. The position includes responsibility for managing and developing team resources and strengthening the overall risk culture.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with origination teams to review, structure and underwrite potential investment opportunities, ensuring adherence to risk appetite. Evaluate the adequacy of collateral and other credit considerations to form an independent view.
• Analyze risks specific to infrastructure and energy projects, such as debt repayment capability, offtake strength, liquidity requirements, regulatory, construction, operational, technological, market and environmental. Identify and raise early potential signs of distress.
• Participate in the deal structuring process from inception and be involved over the life cycle of a transaction, with greater involvement should a transaction be underperforming, higher risk, less liquid, more bespoke, etc.
• Provide forward‑looking views on sector trends, regulatory and policy developments, and emerging risks impacting portfolio performance.
• Author and oversee high‑quality investment committee materials articulating risks, mitigants, and approvals or objections.
• Act as a senior risk leader for infrastructure and energy transactions.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of credit risk professionals, including allocation of work, review of analysis, and coaching on judgment and best practices.
• Establish and maintain robust underwriting, diligence, and monitoring standards aligned with defined risk appetite.
• Represent Credit Risk Management in senior‑level forums, including investment committees and portfolio reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 15+ years of relevant work experience within a Credit Risk Role covering structured finance products, ideally at large financial institutions. Must have familiarity with both corporate and project financing analysis, structures and stress scenarios.
• Broad sector experience with a primary emphasis on renewable energy (residential solar and distributed generation). Additional desirable sectors include battery storage, conventional generation, utility/power, transmission and digital infrastructure (datacenters, telecom, fiber, etc.). Ability to learn new asset classes.
• Strong modelling, analytical, valuation, and problem‑solving skills
• Critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to express thoughts and ideas effectively in both oral and written communications.
