Ignite Voices and Foster Connections in the Unique Culture of New Orleans – Become Our Speech Language Therapist
Imagine a career where you not only help individuals overcome communication barriers but also play an integral role in reviving their spirit and confidence. As a Speech Language Therapist in the vibrant tapestry of New Orleans, your work extends far beyond therapy sessions. You'll facilitate treasured connections—from the laughter of children experimenting with their first syllables to seniors rekindling their independence through effective communication.
This position offers a rewarding blend of daily challenges and unique opportunities as you support a diverse client base spanning from children to adults, sometimes in clinical settings and other times even in patients' homes. You'll have the flexibility to explore your passion—whether it be early childhood speech development, rehabilitating adults post-neurological events, or assisting the elderly in enhancing cognitive-linguistic skills.
Description of Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluations for diverse populations including pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics using established assessment tools and observational methods.
- Create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's short-term and long-term communications, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
- Facilitate personalized speech therapy sessions with a focus on communication, voice, language, and safety in swallowing.
- Work in tandem with occupational and physical therapists, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to establish cohesive strategies for patient care.
- Educate patients and families to ensure continued progress beyond therapy sessions.
- Perform occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions to ensure seamless care throughout the treatment process.
- Implement effective documentation practices in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education and mentorship opportunities.
Required Education
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not holding ASHA certification.
Licenses and Certifications
- Possession of a valid state license as a Speech Language Therapist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be attained within the first month of employment.
Essential Skills
- A comprehensive understanding of evidence-based treatment methods applicable to all age groups, alongside an awareness of developmental and acquired speech disorders.
- Exceptional communication skills that allow you to connect meaningfully with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to modify therapeutic methods for various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills.
- Proficient with electronic medical records and documentation expectations.
Benefits of the Position
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Flexible scheduling that enhances work-life harmony and allows for varying patient loads.
- Specialization opportunities in pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy.
- Generous paid time off and holiday compensation.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans available.
- Support for continued education and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborative work environment committed to high-quality care and continuous learning.
Your Journey Begins Here — Become a Part of Our Purpose
This position is not merely about performing speech therapy; it's about becoming an advocate for communication, sparking connections, and bringing the joy of understanding into our patients' lives.
You will join a team that fosters a strong sense of community, where colleagues are treated as family, and collaboration is valued over competition. Each patient is a unique story, and we trust you to help narrate it with your expertise.
