Journeyman Electrician Job Details Job ID: 5740870 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 27, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full-Time Job Description Reports To: Maintenance Area Supervisor Duty Days: 261 Days Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: A07 – 8HR Date Revised: 07-2023 Qualifications Texas Operator’s License Electrician Journeyman License Ability to respond to emergency situations Ability to read electrical blueprints Physically able to lift 50 pounds Ability to climb/carry ladders and work at elevated heights Ability to use hand tools and power tools Ability to comprehend written and verbal English Primary Purpose Help maintain the physical school plant electrical needs in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical equipment, emergency generators owned or operated by the district. Performs repairs and/or new jobs as requested on approved work order. Recommends when electrical assistance should be obtained. Practices all safety regulations related to trade. Reports any safety hazards in a building. Maintains an inventory of supplies and recommends supplies and equipment for purchase. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance and safety. May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts. Performs other duties as assigned. Equipment Used Multi-meter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc.); trencher, jackhammer; concrete saw, ladder. Light truck or van. Working Conditions Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district-wide travel. Position may be required to work at night.
