Sustainment Engineer I – Operations Engineering Location: Santa Ana, California – Onsite 5 days per week, up to 10% domestic or international travel. What You’ll Do: Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee sustainment and optimization of a high‑volume global fleet of injection mold tooling. New Tooling Integration: Lead technical support for design, fabrication and qualification of replacement tooling to ensure seamless production continuity. Technical Problem Solving: Conduct deep‑dive root‑cause investigations for internal production bottlenecks and supplier quality deviations. Standardization & Governance: Author and maintain SOPs to standardize processes across the sustainment lifecycle. Process Architecture: Design and implement internal workflows to streamline sustainment of physical assets. Continuous Improvement: Identify and pitch data‑driven opportunities for product, equipment and efficiency enhancements. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical bridge between Quality, Purchasing, CI and Manufacturing to hit operational targets. Who You Are: Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering (Required) Professional Experience: 0–3 years in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering role. Technical Expertise: Direct experience with design, maintenance and material selection of injection‑molded components and tooling. Hands‑on experience with ultrasonic welding processes and proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD platforms for design review and troubleshooting. Background in injection mold tool design is highly desirable. Soft Skills: Analytical & inquisitive – naturally curious, driven to master new systems and to ask “why” behind “how.” Communication – strong verbal and technical writing skills, translating complex issues into actionable plans. Adaptability – disciplined team player who thrives on feedback and remains focused in deadline‑driven environments. Meticulous – high attention to detail with an organized approach to managing multiple technical priorities. Salary Range: $72,000 – $87,000 (based on location, job level, experience and skill set).
