We are seeking a Medical Device Service Technician for an onsite opportunity in Orlando, Florida. This is a hands-on position combining electronic troubleshooting, testing and repair with direct technical support for customers.

The technician will work with electronic medical equipment, diagnosing problems down to the component level, performing repairs and testing and helping customers and biomedical technicians resolve technical issues. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys both hands-on electronics work and solving problems with people.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic medical devices down to the component level
• Perform PCBA, unit and top-level testing according to established test procedures
• Troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical assemblies using schematics and appropriate test equipment
• Identify electronic components and diagnose issues involving electronics, mechanics and computer systems
• Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs) and other electronic test and diagnostic equipment
• Perform soldering for electronic assembly and repair
• Follow appropriate ESD procedures and medical-device safety protocols
• Perform upgrades on customer repair units and preventive maintenance and upgrades on loaner equipment
• Maintain accurate device and service documentation
• Provide technical assistance to customers and biomedical technicians by phone and email, including walking them through troubleshooting and operational questions
• Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality Control to resolve customer-related issues
• Assist with equipment training and technical support as needed
• Maintain test equipment and a clean, organized work area
• Travel approximately 10–15% as needed

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience
• 2–3 years of experience in electronics servicing, assembly or testing
• Strong electronic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
• Experience identifying electronic components and working with PCBAs
• Hands-on soldering experience
• Experience using oscilloscopes, DMMs and related electronic test equipment
• Understanding and application of ESD precautions
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues accurately and effectively
• Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
• Comfort providing technical troubleshooting assistance over the phone
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evening shifts when required
• Ability to travel approximately 10–15%

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous medical device or biomedical equipment experience
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
• J-STD-001 certification or related knowledge
• Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO standards or other medical-device regulatory requirements
