Beyond Karate Los Angeles (BKLA) is an inclusive enrichment center serving children, teens, and adults of all abilities, including individuals with developmental, physical, and learning differences.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for dependable, patient, creative, and adaptable people who enjoy working with others and contributing to a collaborative team.

Your experience might be in education, fitness, sports, martial arts, art, dance, cooking, tutoring, youth programs, vocational training—or something entirely different that you can bring to our community.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities is helpful, but not required.
Training and mentorship are provided.

Open Positions

Staff Assistant

Part-Time | $18.50–20/hour | Approximately 15–25 hours/week

Staff Assistants work alongside instructors and team leaders across BKLA programs. Your responsibilities will vary depending on your interests, experience, and the programs you support.

You May Work In:

Leadership Work Training
Work one-on-one with participants toward individualized work-training goals based on their interests, abilities, and employment goals.

Workshops & Life Skills
Assist with or develop curriculum for art, dance, cooking, life skills, and other enrichment programs. Help organize materials, special projects, and culminating events, and find creative ways to promote and grow programs.

Seasonal Camps
Create and lead games, art projects, sports, scavenger hunts, dance routines, and group activities. Support campers on community outings and with practical skills such as budgeting, purchasing items, safe community navigation, and peer interaction.

Tutoring & Academic Support
Work one-on-one with students and find creative, individualized ways to help them understand and engage with their schoolwork.

Fitness & Martial Arts
Assist instructors with inclusive fitness, movement, and martial arts programming while supporting participant engagement, confidence, coordination, and safe participation.

Fitness Instructor

Part-Time | $20–25/hour

Fitness Instructors lead inclusive fitness, movement, and martial arts-based programming for participants of varying ages and abilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading engaging fitness and movement sessions
• Adapting activities to individual abilities and needs
• Supporting coordination, strength, confidence, and body awareness
• Maintaining a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment
• Developing new activities and programming as experience grows

A background or strong interest in fitness, martial arts, dance, athletics, movement, or a related field is preferred.
