Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Job Summary PRN Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – Wentzville. Provides direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures. The schedule is variable, offering shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and is designed to accommodate a flexible work rhythm. Responsibilities Completes admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients, documenting behaviors and accurately complying with timelines set in policy and procedures. Utilizes critical thinking and judgment to analyze assessment data and notify the physician of any changes in condition. Participates in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans per institutional policies. Documents all nursing care and adheres to nursing standards and ministry policies. Consistently implements and records physician orders accurately. Assesses and monitors patients and the environment for safety within the unit. Serves as a clinical resource and supervises care delivered by LPNs and clinical technicians. Educates patients and families based on assessed needs, recording education in the Electronic Health Record. Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing care, ensuring delivery aligns with patient age‑specific and clinical needs. Demonstrates professional nursing standards as defined in the SSM Health professional practice model, using the ANA Code of Ethics for guidance. Maintains a constant state of alertness and performs duties in a safe manner. Performs additional duties as assigned. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or holds an educational equivalency that satisfies state licensing requirements. Experience No prior experience required. Physical Requirements Requires constant verbal communication, standing, walking, lifting/carrying objects weighing 0–25 lbs frequently, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Additional tasks include patient transfer, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive hand movements. The role may involve driving and occasional crawling or running. Licensure & Certifications Must hold a Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or a Compact State. Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) certification via the American Heart Association is required. Location & Staffing Missouri. Work shift: Variable (United States of America). Job type: Employee.
