Help Shape One of the Region's Premier Communities Are you a landscape professional who takes pride in creating beautiful, sustainable outdoor environments? Do you enjoy combining horticultural expertise with contract management, strategic planning, and ecological restoration? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Ashburn Village Community Association is seeking an experienced Landscape Maintenance Specialist to oversee the care, long-term health, and ecological balance of our community's extensive green spaces. This is an exciting opportunity to manage more than $1.5 million in annual landscape and grounds maintenance contracts while helping preserve, enhance, and protect the natural assets of one of the area's most beautiful residential communities. What You'll Do As our Landscape Maintenance Specialist, you'll serve as the technical expert responsible for maintaining the quality, health, biodiverse ecology, and appearance of our common areas, turf, and wooded buffers. Contract Management: Oversee landscape contractors to ensure strict compliance with contract specifications, high-quality execution, and adherence to modern horticultural standards. Ecological & Invasive Management: Identify, monitor, and execute mitigation strategies for regional invasive plant species (e.g., English Ivy, Callery Pear, Mile-a-Minute weed) across common areas, natural borders, and pond buffers. Native Plant Stewardship: Plan and oversee the integration of Mid-Atlantic native plantings to promote biodiversity, support local pollinators, and improve community climate resilience. Ecological Stewardship and Strategic Planning: Assist in developing long-term landscape master plans, tree care initiatives, and asset replacement schedules. Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections, manage digital work order workflows, and proactively resolve landscape and turf issues. Community Engagement: Serve as a staff liaison to committees and provide technical expertise to residents regarding community landscape standards and eco-friendly practices. What We're Looking For We're seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on professional who combines deep technical expertise in both traditional turf management and ecological sustainability with strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Education: Degree or certification in Horticulture, Agronomy, Forestry, Landscape Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). Certifications: ISA Certified Arborist designation strongly preferred. Virginia Certified Fertilizer Applicator or Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain) is a major plus. Experience: 3–5 years of experience managing commercial landscape maintenance programs, HOA communities, municipalities, campuses, or similar large-scale properties. Technical Knowledge: Strong botanical identification skills, specifically regarding Mid-Atlantic native plants and invasive species. Deep understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and ecologically sensitive eradication methods. Strong knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, water conservation practices, and landscape asset management. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with contractors, management, and residents. Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital work order or asset management systems. Why Join Us? This is more than a landscape maintenance position—it's an opportunity to become the true steward of a thriving community's outdoor environment.
