At Express Employment Professionals , we’re adding a Mining Automation & Instrumentation Technologist to safeguard reliability across electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems—while upholding MSHA, federal and state regulations, and company safety standards.

What success looks like

• Every shift begins with a thorough safety inspection of your assigned area (and additional checks when conditions warrant) in accordance with federal mining requirements.
• Production stays on track because you troubleshoot, service, and repair facility-wide E/E/I equipment quickly and correctly.
• Using portable test instruments and internal diagnostics, you locate, isolate, and fix instrumentation faults with precision.
• Defective parts are replaced, and systems are validated for accuracy and dependable operation.
• Controls, recorders, gas analyzers, and automatic weight devices receive consistent preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
• During construction, upgrades, and machine modifications, you install control devices, indicating instruments, recorders, SCR drives, and PLCs.
• Housekeeping is second nature—you keep paths clear to remove slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Every task reflects unwavering compliance with MSHA, federal/state regulations, and internal policies.
• Within 90 days, you’ve built and maintained your complete tool set (we provide the list).
• Mobile equipment is operated only after proper task training in line with MSHA guidance.

Your background

• Dependable , with a strong safety and attendance record.
• Electrical aptitude and willingness to keep learning.
• Foundational instrumentation knowledge—or eagerness to develop it—plus capability in electrical repairs.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn control systems/programming.
• Comfort working independently and collaborating through clear direction.

Education & experience

• 4+ years of verifiable electrician experience in mining or heavy industrial settings.
• Fluent with electrical meters, including megger testing motors and cables.
• Skilled at troubleshooting AC and DC motor starters, VFDs, and power distribution.
• Understanding of CEM (Continuous Emissions Monitoring) systems.
• Hands-on with pressure/flow transmitters, RTDs, and thermocouples.
