Registered NursePosition/Specialty: Medical Surgical - Client Shift: 3x12 nights (1900-0730) Weekends: Every other weekend Holidays: Every other holidayThis is a 27-bed medical and surgical unit. The unit takes patients on general telemetry. Patients are monitored in a monitor room but do not receive cardiac drips. Typical patient demographics include individuals recovering from strokes, post-back surgeries, and post-hip or knee replacements. The unit also accommodates patients receiving oncology treatments. First-time travelers are accepted.The following skills are required:Accessing and managing portsAdministration of chemotherapyManaging BiPAP/CPAPBlood product administrationCentral line blood drawColostomy and ileostomy managementContinuous bladder irrigation (CBI)CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) careFeeding tube care and managementInterpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)Isolation precautions and personal protective equipmentManaging dysrhythmiasMonitoring chemotherapy patientsTotal joint replacement managementCare for tracheostomy patientsWound care and wound vac managementThe daily census for the unit averages 26 patients. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must be willing to float based on facility census and staffing needs.
