Description Of Duties/Essential Functions Under administration direction, performs specialized legal duties in the Liquor Control Office; represents the Liquor Control Commission in administrative adjudication of high profile cases; drafts citations; conducts legal research and prepares written legal briefs; represents the Commission in investigative interviews with witnesses; participates directly as an expert on whose advice key decision makers rely on in formulating administrative policies on the drafting and interpreting of Liquor Control statutes, rules, and regulations; confers and corresponds with licensees, attorneys, state and local government officials and others; continually monitors incoming cases to ensure cases are aggressively pursued; confers on a frequent basis with Chief legal staff to discuss cases. Minimum Requirements Requires graduation from a recognized law school, requires the possession of a license to practice law in the State of Illinois, and requires three years professional experience in the practice of law. SPECIALIZED SKILLS Civil litigation in the representation of liquor licensees in evidentiary hearings before a liquor control board Presentation of appellate oral arguments before a liquor control board Negotiation of liquor license violation settlement agreements before a liquor control board Representation of clients in the preparation and submission of liquor license applications before a liquor control board Liquor related business transactions Work Hours & Location Work Hours: 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
