Preschool Paraprofessional

Tanque Verde Unified School District is seeking a Preschool Paraprofessional. This is a 10 hour per week position. In order to be considered, applicant must meet all requirements as determined by licensing. Minimum Qualifications: -18 years old -High School Diploma or equivalent -At least6 months experience in birth to age 8 -TB test Examples of Duties: -Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts. -Assists students, individuallyor in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts under the guidance of the teacher. -Provides instruction for a number of students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role-playing , under the guidance of the teacher. -Makes adaptations to material and instructions under the guidance of the teacher. -Ensure safety of the student and be aware of and attentive to the medical needs of the student. -Escorts special need students and relieve other aides for breaks. -Monitors digestive process in students to ensure there is no choking. -Assist students in toileting needs. -Provide diapering of students as needed. -Monitors students and advises on appropriate behavior. -Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. -May feed students meals, snacks, and drinks. -Monitor digestive process in students to ensure there is no choking. -Provide restraint on an as-needed basis may be required. -May perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques. -Skill in developing activities to enhance child development. -Skill in working with children. -Ability to read and interpret important documents such as reference manuals, etc. -Ability to write correspondence that is grammatically correct. -Ability to maintain composure and to manage stressful situations. -Ability to calculate figures and perform mathematical applications such as discounts, proportions, percentages, etc. -Ability to work effectively on a computer in word processing and database management environments. -Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. -Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. -Ability to communicate effectively.
