Patient Access Representative

Receptionist

Summary: Monitor reception areas, greet patients, update chart information, and effectively initiate patient visits. Essential duties and responsibilities include opening the office daily, updating patient's demographic and insurance information, communicating effectively with patients and staff, answering telephone calls, monitoring the schedule, creating new charts, obtaining proper patient identification, registering patients, collecting co-pays, verifying insurance coverage, performing all other assigned duties, checking EHR tasks, closing the clinic, covering other positions, providing spiritual care, performing the sliding fee process, conducting encounter audits, and being proficient in PM and EHR software.

Other essential duties and responsibilities involve recognizing the importance of a team-based approach to patient care, demonstrating excellent team communication, coordinating care with community organizations, understanding population management, communicating effectively with vulnerable patient populations, participating in continuous quality improvement activities, and being involved in the process of improving quality incomes.

General duties include following office policies, maintaining good attendance, maintaining timely documentation, maintaining patient confidentiality, keeping the supervisor informed, being flexible in multitasking, working efficiently, and cooperating with physicians, administration, and peers.

Qualification requirements include a pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, written and oral communication skills, organized work habits, and computer skills. Education and/or experience include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of medical office experience preferred. Physical demands involve talking or hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting or smelling, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is a faith-based, federally qualified community health center with a moderate noise level.
