Estate Planning Attorney

An established estate planning firm in Garden City, New York is looking to add an attorney to its close-knit team. The firm currently consists of one attorney and two paralegals, and the founding attorney who has led the practice since 2006. The firmis looking for the right person to grow alongside the firm and eventually take on a larger role within it.

This is a great opportunity for an attorney who values quality of life, a manageable schedule, and a relaxed, low-drama practice over the demands of a high-volume or litigation-heavy environment.

About the Firm

This is a small, established estate planning practice built on long-term relationships with clients and with its team. The firm is selective about who it brings on, and is looking for someone who will be a genuine fit: collaborative, coachable, and invested in the success of the practice rather than focused solely on what the role can offer on day one. In return, the firm is willing to invest meaningfully in the right person's long-term growth and compensation.

Responsibilities

• Handle estate planning matters including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents
• Manage probate matters as needed
• Work closely with the firm's two paralegals and the founding attorney to manage a full caseload
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
• Take on increasing responsibility within the firm as trust and experience are established

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar
• Estate planning experience strongly preferred
• Strong drafting, communication, and client relationship skills
• A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the judgment to work independently as trust is built
• Willingness and ability to work in the office full-time (remote work — approximately one day per week — may become available after an initial training and trust-building period)

Work Environment & Schedule

• In-office role based in Garden City, NY
• Typical schedule of 40–45 hours per week for attorneys
• No billable hour requirements
• No litigation and no court appearances, other than probate matters
• A relaxed, manageable atmosphere — this role is built around quality of life, not around being the highest-paid attorney on Long Island

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary in the $100,000–$150,000 range based on experience
• Meaningful opportunities to grow total compensation over time as the right candidate takes on more responsibility and contributes to the firm's growth
• IRA with employer matching up to 3% of salary, available after an initial trial period
• Note: the firm does not currently offer a medical insurance plan, but is open to adding this back on if requested
