Kent County, Dover, DE is seeking applications for a Utility Services Specialist in the Department of Public Works. Requirements include: Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment and business arithmetic and English. Responsibilities: answering telephones: provides assistance, request documents and information; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; and takes messages; assists the public, realtors, plumbers and developers with questions with requests or complaints regarding sewer, trash, and streetlights. Processes, Maintains, and updates sewer permits and accepts associated payments; research information regarding sewer connections for building permits, as well as creates and issues sewer permits; performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of department functions, including but not limited to establishing and maintaining files and maintaining computer record-keeping functions, as well as researching documentation; sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; drafts or prepares responses to routine inquiries; prepares photocopies, and packets for meetings; arranges meetings and conferences, and appointments, and performs other duties related to maintaining one or more individual schedules; greets and directs visitors, as and when appropriate; resolves routine administrative problems and answers inquiries concerning activities; prepares mileage and a wide variety of other reports. Completion of standard high school coursework or G.E.D. with one or more years of basic clerical, office support, customer service experience or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must pass testing for substance abuse and criminal background investigation. Direct deposit of pay required.
