RN (BHU/Med Psych) - St. Charles Parish Hospital

This nursing leader role focuses on patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nursing, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members, maintains quality patient outcomes, and supports the organization’s nursing philosophy. Education Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Work Experience Required – None. Certifications Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred – Certification in a clinical specialty area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed. Ability to demonstrate good judgement. Good interpersonal skills. Job Duties Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other disciplines. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the nursing profession. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, method of introduction, explaining services, requesting permissions, and adjusting communication style. Performs other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work – Exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 50 to 100 pounds occasionally to move objects.
