Associate Counsel

In-house counsel role providing support across the Legal Department of a growing financial services company focused on insurance, retirement and investment management. The individual will initially focus on developing a deep knowledge of the company’s products, services and operations with a focus on managing claims, litigation and regulatory matters. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Support all phases of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including claims disputes, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries Assist in managing outside counsel, tracking case developments, and supporting litigation strategy and reporting Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery materials, and responses related to litigation and regulatory matters Partner with compliance and fraud teams to investigate and respond to suspected fraud, policyholder disputes, and regulatory issues Analyze legal and regulatory risks associated with insurance products, distribution channels, and business initiatives Monitor and summarize developments in insurance laws, regulations, and litigation trends impacting the business Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, product, compliance, and operations teams to mitigate legal risk Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Juris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of two years of practical experience in private practice or in-house as well as admission to the Connecticut Bar Experience or Demonstrated Interest in insurance law, financial services regulation, or litigation preferred Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment Strong Work Ethic coupled with a Proactive Growth Mindset Humble but not passive. The base salary for this position falls within Nassau’s salary band F: $100,000 + depending upon experience.
