Laboratory Supervisor

Salary Estimate: $77,500 - $116,292 per year. Position Summary Under the direction of the Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Supervisor oversees the administrative and technical operations of multiple departments within the Laboratory and ensures compliance with CAP, The Joint Commission and CLIA Standards. He/she directs the daily activities of the personnel who perform technical and sophisticated testing procedures to obtain timely and accurate clinical data. The supervisor manages procedural protocols, equipment maintenance, quality improvement programs and quality control data, maintains technical proficiency, provides training and technical assistance to laboratory personnel, and ensures staff competency. Responsibilities also include performance counseling, conducting staff evaluations, communicating with Supervisors, Laboratory Director, Pathologists, and customers, maintaining fiscal responsibility for the department, assisting in annual budget development, and supporting the organization’s values and mission. Position Requirements Licensure/Certification/Registration: ASCP, NCA, AMT or HEW required. Education: A college graduate or equivalent who has passed a certification examination for Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP, NCA, AMT or HEW. NCA and ASCP Certification requires a B.A. or B.S. in Medical Technology or related field, and one-year internship or appropriate experience prior to examination. HEW Certification requires a combination of education and experience prior to examination. Associate degree with successful completion of an accredited MLT program and ASCP Board Certification also acceptable. Experience: Prefer 2 years of management experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Able to handle a variety of responsibilities under pressure, function independently, assist the Director in evaluating and establishing systems to meet laboratory policy and needs, communicate effectively orally and in writing, manage morale, conflict and change, participate in counseling and guidance of personnel, and conduct probationary and annual evaluations.
