Urologic Staff Surgeon

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until October 1st, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be July 15th, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

The Urologic Staff Surgeon routinely performs outpatient and inpatient Urologic surgery examinations, determines diagnoses, and initiates treatments based on Urologic surgery education and standards of care. Position duties for an Urologic Staff Surgeon at VA Phoenix include but are not limited to the following:

• Diagnose and treat medical and surgical disorders using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care.
• Responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history & physicals, and admission of Urologic surgery patients as needed.
• Clinical duties include but are not limited to Operating Room (experience in wide variety of standard Urologic surgical procedures and operations including cystoscopy and fiberoptic cystoscopy), in-patient rounds, Emergency Room and Outpatient Clinics. The Urologic surgeon will be able to perform a wide variety of Urologic surgical procedures.
• May supervise residents as well as medical students who rotate through the Urologic Surgery Service.
• Will participate in Urologic surgery night call and perform emergency surgical procedures.
• Responsible for providing patients with education concerning their disease state and treatment regimen.
• Will complete all electronic, clinical, daily charting and documentation required by the Medical Center in a timely manner as appropriate.
• Consult with Medical Center staff on many patient care issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): EDRP Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
