Basic Job Functions:
Responsibilities of the Sales Engineer include but are not limited to:

Develop, coordinate, and oversee processes, procedures, and best practices that consistently produce competitive design solutions for estimates.

Proactively engage with District Sales Managers, Builders, Estimating, and Design teams to identify project opportunities, initiate involvement early, and take ownership of supporting projects through the estimating process.

Support sales and profitability objectives by providing technical guidance and design solutions that create a competitive marketplace advantage.

Collaborate across departments to develop safe, efficient, and economical project solutions, considering metal building pricing, erection requirements, constructability, and total installed cost.

Evaluate unique or nonstandard project requirements and recommend solutions that balance business risk, product application, constructability, and cost.

Partner with the Estimating Supervisor and Sales Leadership to develop creative, technically sound selling strategies for unique or complex projects.

Build and maintain strong relationships with Builders through regular travel, face-to-face meetings, and ongoing communication, establishing yourself as a trusted technical resource they feel comfortable contacting directly.

Support the DSM builder recruiting efforts for the division by helping identify, develop, and maintain relationships with potential recruits.

Travel is a significant and active component of this role and may be required on short notice.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Buildings Group Texas will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:

4-year Civil/Structural engineering degree and Registered Professional Engineer

Minimum 4 years of experience in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building industry

Ability to travel frequently, including occasional short-notice travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings or structural steel.

Experience representing a manufacturer, fabricator, subcontractor, or specialty trade partner in Design Coordination.

Experience with design-assist, design-build, integrated project delivery, or other collaborative project-delivery methods.

Experience with construction document interpretation.

Ability to identify and execute competitive sales strategies.

Knowledge of construction materials and methods.

Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
