Lead Specialty Software Engineer - Agentic AI

About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer to support the design and delivery of technology solutions focused on modernizing and accelerating credit risk data migration. This role will provide technical leadership in the development of enterprise applications and Agentic AI solutions using modern full stack, cloud, and artificial intelligence technologies.The Lead Specialty Software Engineer will design, develop, and implement scalable enterprise applications and Agentic AI solutions using modern software engineering technologies and frameworks. They will partner with business and technology teams to solve complex engineering challenges, contribute to technical design and architecture decisions, and drive engineering best practices across the software development lifecycle.The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on software engineering experience, expertise in modern application development, and experience building Agentic AI solutions. This role will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers while helping advance application modernization, automation, and responsible AI adoption.In this role, you will:Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise-scale applications and AI-powered solutionsDevelop and maintain full stack applications using Angular and/or React, Spring Boot, SQL Server, and related technologiesDesign and implement Agentic AI solutions using LangGraph, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and agent orchestration frameworksDevelop Python-based services, automation solutions, APIs, and data processing pipelinesCollaborate with product owners, architects, business partners, and engineering teams to define and implement technical solutionsParticipate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews to ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practicesAnalyze and resolve complex technical challenges across application, database, integration, and AI solution componentsContribute to CI/CD, DevOps, testing, security, and operational excellence initiativesMentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineersStay current on emerging technologies, particularly in AI, software engineering, and application modernizationRequired Qualifications:5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education5+ years of experience developing Java applications using Spring Boot and microservices architectures5+ years of experience developing solutions using Python6+ months of experience building Agentic AI solutions using LangGraph or similar agent frameworksDesired Qualifications:Experience with SQL Server, including data modeling, performance tuning, and query optimizationExperience developing enterprise applications using Angular and/or ReactExperience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and AI application developmentExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed systemsExperience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern SDLC practicesExperience with Azure, AWS, or other cloud platformsExperience with AI governance, observability, evaluation frameworks, and responsible AI practicesExperience developing AI-powered productivity, automation, or modernization solutionsExperience with semantic models, vector search, knowledge graphs, or metadata-driven architecturesExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker and KubernetesExperience working in Agile environments using Jira and modern DevOps practicesDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical leadership within a teamExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsPassion for Agentic AI, software engineering innovation, and continuous learningJob Expectations:Must be able to work onsite in one of the posted locations per the company's hybrid policyServe as a senior technical contributor on strategic software engineering and AI initiativesDrive high-quality solution delivery through sound engineering practices and technical excellencePartner with business and technology teams to identify opportunities for automation, modernization, and AI adoptionCommunicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and influence technical decisions through collaboration and expertisePromote a culture of innovation, ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellencePosting End Date: 14 Oct 2026*Job posting may come down early due to volume of applicants.We Value Equal OpportunityWells Fargo is an equal opportunity employer.
