Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description

This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on the design, development, and deployment of launch hardware, production tooling, ground support equipment, and related mechanical systems. It is well suited for an early-career engineer with 1–2 years of mechanical engineering experience who enjoys combining strong Siemens NX CAD design skills with hands-on work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical systems that support launch operations, production tooling, ground support equipment, and associated infrastructure.
• Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using Siemens NX.
• Take full ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through design, fabrication, testing, and implementation.
• Collaborate closely with technicians, manufacturing teams, operations personnel, and other engineers to ensure successful project execution.
• Perform engineering calculations and basic structural analysis to inform and justify design decisions.
• Balance technical performance requirements with cost, schedule, manufacturability, and operational considerations.
• Participate in design reviews and present technical solutions, trade studies, and project updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and activation of hardware systems in the field or production environment.
• Create and maintain accurate engineering drawings and technical specifications that meet industry standards.
• Assist with fabrication and test activities by providing clear documentation and resolving design-related issues as they arise.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of mechanical engineering experience gained through internships, co-ops, or professional work in an engineering environment.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX, including creating 3D models, detailed drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong CAD skills in mechanical design, machine design, and structural components using Siemens NX.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, machine elements, structural components, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and structural analysis to support design work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical structures, ground support equipment, tooling, or industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and established engineering drawing standards.
• Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS, FEMAP, or similar software.
• Experience supporting fabrication, testing, installation, or field troubleshooting activities for mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated project ownership through internships, co-ops, senior design projects, or prior professional experience.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Background in CAD-driven mechanical engineering, including design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Familiarity with design and analysis of mechanical and machine systems used in production or launch environments.

Work Environment

The role operates in a fast-paced engineering environment that combines office-based design work with hands-on involvement in fabrication, testing, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical hardware. You will regularly use Siemens NX and other engineering tools to create 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and documentation, and you will collaborate closely with technicians, manufacturing teams, operations personnel, and fellow engineers. The work involves supporting launch operations, production tooling, and ground support equipment, requiring attention to safety, quality, and schedule. Dress code may vary between office and shop or test areas, where appropriate attire and protective equipment are used to support safe, practical, and comfortable work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cocoa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
