Cook/Food Service Worker

Shift: Full-time; Days and Weekend. 5:30a-1:30p, 10:30a-7:00p

This is a temp to hire position.

The  Food Service Worker  provides safe,  timely , and  accurate  preparation, assembly, delivery, and clean-up of meals and food items for patients, residents, and guests. The Cook position is responsible for the preparation and cooking of food for hospital patients, associates, and visitors. Maintains a clean workstation and uses recipes and temperature logs to ensure quality and safety standards are met. role supports quality care and customer satisfaction by following department procedures, food safety and sanitation guidelines, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce hot food items, supporting ordering, portioning, and assembly to ensure timely service

• Handle, store, and maintain food safely and cost-effectively in compliance with all safety and sanitation standards

• Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures, maintaining equipment cleanliness and proper operation

• Follow recipes and procedures to ensure high-quality, safe, and appealing meals

• Train team members, maintain cleaning logs, manage food inventory, and help reduce waste

• Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence in alignment with UnityPoint Health values

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Education or Equivalent required.

Experience:

• At least o ne year of cooking or food service experience and the ability to perform at the cook’s level within six months in this position required .

• Preferred: Two years of cooking experience in a healthcare or restaurant setting preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Food Handler Certification

• SERVSAFE upon hire.

• IA/IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within  90 days  of hire. 

• IA/IL Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing Care required within  90 days  of hire.
