General Manager

At the Last Word, we are a cozy 70-seat space where fun vibes meet a sleek cocktail bar and a scratch kitchen.

We are looking for a General Manager to lead our team with a positive attitude while providing genuine hospitality and quality food and drink to our guests.

Ideal Candidate

• Sets the standard of welcoming hospitality to guests and co-workers throughout the operation
• Enjoys the fast-paced, hands-on work of running a bar and restaurant
• Understands flavors, aromas and ingredients in food and drinks
• Understands business operations and has an ability to influence the bottom line
• Can manage on the fly requests with ease and poise
• Has a track record of success in the food and beverage industry

Responsibilities

The GM oversees all aspects of the restaurant's operations, including food and beverage service, front of house operations, and in collaboration with the Chef, back of house operations. The GM role is expected to be hands-on, with an understanding of every position and willingness to jump into any role.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Hiring, training, leading and coaching
• Managing the team on shifts
• Setting the standard of guest hospitality
• Using scheduling software to write schedules to labor targets
• Purchasing and Inventory control
• Assessing and addressing facility/maintenance issues
• Driving quality standards in food and drink.
• Ensuring cleanliness of FOH and BOH
• Programming point-of-sale and operation
• Management of reservation system
• Building event and private party business through prompt follow-up
• Ensuring that all operations meet or exceed health and safety standards
