Field Computer Technician

Location: Bend, OR Additional Coverage: Klamath Falls and surrounding areas Travel: Approximately 250–350 miles per week Certification: A+ Certification Preferred, but not required.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Field Computer Technician to provide laptop and desktop repair services throughout the Bend, OR region, with additional coverage in Klamath Falls and surrounding areas.

This is a mobile field-service position ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting hardware, working independently, and providing excellent service directly at customer locations. Reliable personal transportation and the ability to travel throughout the assigned territory are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete field service requests for laptop and desktop computers.
• Diagnose and repair hardware issues, including replacement of: motherboards, LCD displays, hard drives, keyboards, other PC components and peripherals.
• Perform complete unit swaps when necessary.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
• Update and close service tickets in real time using a company-provided phone.
• Accurately document service activity, time and location for each customer visit.
• Travel between customer locations throughout the assigned service territory.

Required Qualifications

• A+ Certification required.
• 1+ year of hands-on laptop and desktop break/fix experience.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing PCs and laptops.
• Familiarity with motherboard, LCD and other component-level replacements.
• General knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware and software.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve routine technical problems.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a reliable personal vehicle and current automobile insurance.
• Must have a reliable home computer, high-speed internet connection and access to a working printer.
• Ability and willingness to drive extensively throughout the assigned territory.

Computer-building or similar hands-on hardware experience is a plus.

Travel & Mileage

This position requires significant daily driving, with approximately 250–350 miles of travel per week. Mileage traveled between work locations during the workday is reimbursed at the applicable company mileage rate. Normal commuting mileage to and from work is not reimbursed.

Candidates should be comfortable occasionally driving 2–3 hours to reach customer locations and must have a reliable transportation backup plan if their primary vehicle becomes unavailable.

Certification & Screening

Selected candidates must complete required Dell product certifications before beginning work. Dell certification training and testing are provided at no cost to the candidate and are completed online.

Candidates must also be able to:

• Complete required product training.
• Successfully complete applicable background and drug screening requirements.
• Meet any client or governmental clearance requirements associated with assigned locations.
• Occasionally work beyond the normally scheduled shift when service needs require it; applicable overtime compensation will be provided in accordance with law.
• Maintain the required business-casual dress code while visiting customer locations.
