Zuni Pueblo is the largest of the nineteen New Mexican Pueblos, covering more than 700 square miles and has a population of over 10,000 inhabitants. Additionally, they are considered the most traditional of all New Mexico Pueblos with a unique language, culture and history which is due in part to its geographic isolation. The people and their families who have endured throughout the years here have shown their resiliency and endurance to be as strong as their building material; centuries of creating homes and buildings with adobe, sandstone, wood, cement, glass and even steel are a part of Zuni Pueblo's legacy which stand strong to this day.

An impressive feat, considering this was the initial location of "first contact" between the Europeans and the Native People in the Southwest in 1540 with the arrival of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, 16th -century Spanish explorer. About the Facility - Zia Health Center and Dental Clinic
The Zia Health Clinic is a comprehensive healthcare facility offering a range of services to the community. The clinic provides general medical services and hosts specialized clinics for dental care, diabetes, women's health, pediatrics, and audiology. Alongside medical services, the clinic features a pharmacy and benefits coordination.

Dentist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• The Dentist performs professional dental work in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in routine and emergency settings within the scope of services.
• Dental care includes but it not limited to, providing diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, and prosthetic services.
• Perform a full array of general dentistry services for patients, including extractions, fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, and partial dentures.
• The Dentist examines patients' teeth and supporting structures. Determines the nature and extent of existing oral disease. Prepares charts of teeth and the oral cavity. Develops plan for treatment of infection including antibiotic treatment, the restoration of carious teeth, the extraction of teeth, and the replacement of missing teeth with bridgework or dentures.
• Administer local anesthesia as needed.
• Provides patient education about good dental health practices, post-operative care and participates in educational programs for the improvement of health conditions among service population.
• The Dentist makes referrals to other specialists as needed.

Dentist - REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a graduate from an accredited dental school approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) and possess a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree.
• Specialty Dentist must be a graduate of a dental specialty training program that is accredited by the CODA or the ADA or an accepted equivalent program.
• Certification: Board eligible or board certified as required.
• Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service Specific Credentialing instruction.
• Shall have a minimum of one (1) full year experience being employed on a full-time basis in the practice of dentistry or be a recent 1-year graduate of an accredited, post-graduate dentistry training program. Dental specialists shall have a certificate of training in their specialty area from an ADA accredited residency program.
• Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a dentist.
