Driver Safety Manager III

Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Region Administrator, the Driver Safety Manager III (DSM III) of the Sacramento Driver Safety (DS) Office within the DS Branch manages the largest District Office with five or more subordinate supervisors. The DSM III oversees staff and operations of the Sacramento DS Office, provides direct supervision to the DSM II and Manager I positions, and indirect supervision to the DSM I position. The DSM III plans, coordinates, and manages the work and activities of the Sacramento DS Office. This position is located in Sacramento County within the Legal Affairs Division, Driver Safety Branch. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position. Position may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resources Branch and/or Department of Finance approval. Desirable Qualifications Describe your demonstrated ability to manage and direct a large multi‑disciplinary staff, including production teams and varying levels of management. Describe your well‑developed interpersonal skills, and your demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of audiences within and outside a department. Describe your demonstrated ability to monitor, track, and maintain the quality of work; and your demonstrated ability to maintain effective quality control measures, identify and correct deficiencies, and ensure accurate and timely services to the public and other stakeholders. Describe your knowledge of a manager’s role in ensuring Equal Employment Opportunity goals are met; and your demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with labor representatives to resolve team member complaints and grievances. Describe your demonstrated ability to evaluate, recommend and implement program changes. Describe your knowledge of and experience with the Driver Safety program and the Administrative Hearing processes; and your demonstrated ability to ensure due process of the law.
