Senior Expense Analyst

Purpose: The Senior Expense Analyst will partner with internal stakeholders to report on and manage expenses across select departments. Develop, analyze, and update annual expense budgets and monthly reforecasts based on ongoing business developments. Liaise with department leadership and other finance teams to understand expense trends and solutions for evolving departmental needs. Assist with ad hoc analysis and cross-functional projects as requested. Accountabilities:

• Support business leaders in achieving our corporate strategy, including contextualizing departmental expenses in the scope of operating KPIs
• Track, analyze and report management information that is actionable and predictive based upon key departmental expense drivers
• Prepare financial reports for selected departments and translate results into a narrative for department and company leadership
• Contribute to monthly financial close via expense journal entries, including support of the company's international entities
• Work with departmental leaders to develop annual expense plan using a “bottoms up” approach
• Monitor and adapt annual plan into monthly reforecasts based on evolving department needs and corporate goals
• Lead financial conversations with various stakeholders, including facilitating discussions around sensitive topics
• Suggest and implement improvements to the processes used to report and analyze the company's expenses
• Review and complete information requests from external agencies and regulatory authorities
• Lead, manage, and/or assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Preference to CPA/CMA/MBA credentials
• Understanding of GAAP expense reporting fundamentals required, with understanding of STAT expense reporting fundamentals preferred
• 5+ years of increasingly responsible analysis experience in accounting or consulting/advisory; financial services experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills combined with process improvement experience
• Ability to translate complex analysis and recommendations into simple communication
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
• Experience with EssBase, Hyperion, & Business Objects queries preferred
