Come join our team!Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer II.Position Summary:Under limited supervision, provide engineering support for new and existing projects in terms of component and structure design; structural and thermal analysis either by FEA or hand calculations; and engineering documentation. Products include shock and vibration isolation mounts, laminated elastomer bearing based components for off-shore riser and tendon connections as well as military applications, industrial clutch and brakes and hang-off systems for off-shore riser components. Requires closely partnering with operations, manufacturing engineering, quality and project management. Some interface with Customers and material/outside fabrication vendors as required.Engineering Duties And Responsibilities:Design of elastomeric components and associated metal structures through use of in-house codes, industry standards and fundamental structural design practicesRun and interpret results from finite element analysis to verify component structural and thermal performanceTranslate designs from concept to drawing with 3D or 2D CAD softwareGenerate input and review drawings for format, technical accuracy as well as producibilityGenerate input, help assemble and review design bases and reports, test plans, material specifications and any other essential engineering documentationMaterial Review Board activitiesCapable of taking the lead in the design/analysis process and managing engineering project teamsOther duties as assignedQualification Requirements:Masters in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with at least 2 year of direct experience; BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with at least 3 years of direct experience; or at least 8 years of direct experience without a degree.Demonstrated proficiency as a detail component/structural design engineerDemonstrated proficiency using computer-aided-engineering /design software, including SolidWorks or AutoCADDemonstrated proficiency performing structural analysis with FEA, SIMULIA Abaqus preferredProficient in the usage of GD&T notation and applicationFamiliarity of designing and analysis with elastomeric materials a plusDemonstrated programming and data analysis skills a plusExcellent organizational skillsDetail-focused and results-oriented attitude with a sense of urgencyHandle multiple tasks at one timeExcellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills5% to 10% travel required, including international travelPhysical Requirements:Office environment – prolonged sitting, use of a computer, telephone and other office equipmentFrequent standing, walking, climbing stairsLifting up to 10 pounds occasionallyOccasional travel, including international travelCitizenship Requirements – By contractual requirements this position requires that all persons establish proof of US Citizenship.
