Adjunct, Art Historian Job Category: Adjunct Requisition Number: ADJUN001152 Posted: July 14, 2025 Employment Type: Part Time Location: West Long Branch, NJ (On‑site) The Department of Art and Design at Monmouth University is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach the Surveys of Western Art. The program includes a two‑part course: Prehistoric to Gothic in the Fall and Renaissance to Contemporary in the Spring. Preference is given to faculty who can also teach introductory Art Appreciation and some 300‑level, writing‑intensive courses in Art History, such as African American Art, History of Graphic Design, and Gender, Art, and Society. Part‑time Adjunct Faculty typically teach 3‑6 credits per semester. Courses are delivered in person at the West Long Branch campus. Adjunct positions remain posted continuously to expand the university’s pool of qualified faculty. Screening of applications will commence when an open position becomes available. Duties and Responsibilities Teach 3‑6 credits during the semester. Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions, and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives. Provide time during the week to meet with students outside of class. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success. Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner. Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development.
