Job Title: Welder Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Welder to perform a variety of essential welding and fabrication tasks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting simple fabrication drawings, executing welding processes, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

• Perform basic fitting, assembly, tack-welding, and welding tasks within current training and qualifications.
• Read and interpret simple fabrication drawings, sketches, dimensions, material callouts, and common weld symbols; seek clarification when requirements are unclear.
• Measure, mark, and lay out components using basic layout tools such as a tape measure, square, level, straightedge, and chalk line.
• Identify and maintain job or material identification of common structural shapes and materials, including plate, angle, channel, pipe, tubing, and wide-flange members.
• Prepare joints and materials by cleaning, grinding, beveling, and checking edges and surfaces before fit-up.
• Assist with positioning, aligning, leveling, squaring, clamping, bracing, and tacking components using approved tools and equipment.
• Check basic dimensions, diagonals, orientation, hole locations, and fit-up against drawings before welding or requesting inspection.
• Perform FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, or other company-approved welding processes within current qualifications and assigned parameters.
• Complete basic fillet, groove, tack, and multi-pass welds in assigned positions after receiving instruction and qualification.
• Set basic welding-machine controls as instructed and verify polarity, consumable, shielding gas, and ground placement.
• Operate grinders, saws, drills, and approved cutting equipment only after training and authorization.
• Clean welds between passes and remove slag, spatter, burrs, and temporary attachments without damaging the base material.
• Perform basic visual checks of fit-up and completed welds and promptly report any quality concerns.
• Assist with material staging, movement, and crane signaling or rigging when trained, designated, and authorized.
• Accurately complete required production, material, inspection, and timekeeping records; assist other employees as needed.

• Proficiency in welding processes such as MIG, Flux Core, and Sub Arc.
• Blueprint reading and fabrication skills.
• Experience in fitting and using fitting tools.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and conversions between measurements.
• Ability to use measuring tools accurately.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic welding or fabrication training, vocational education, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
• Ability to pass entry-level weld test for required processes and positions.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and recognize work outside current qualifications.

This is a Contract position based out of Ridgeville, SC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
