Location Location Practice Practice Experience 15+ years, 3+ as Partner/Director Compensation $280,000 – $300,000 Audit Partner – Not-for-Profit Practice Compensation: $280,000 – $300,000 Base Salary + Performance Incentives Position Overview We are seeking an accomplished Audit Partner to lead and expand our Not-for-Profit (NFP) assurance practice in Gainesville, Florida. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned CPA with deep expertise serving nonprofit organizations, including charitable entities, foundations, associations, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and organizations receiving federal funding. The Audit Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while providing strategic leadership to the assurance practice. This individual will be responsible for client relationship management, business development, engagement oversight, talent development, and overall practice growth. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to combine client-facing leadership with operational and strategic responsibilities while maintaining flexibility in work location. Key Responsibilities Client Leadership & Advisory Serve as the lead relationship partner for a portfolio of nonprofit and exempt organization clients. Provide strategic guidance on accounting, auditing, governance, compliance, and operational matters. Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams, finance committees, boards of directors, and audit committees. Maintain strong client relationships and ensure exceptional service delivery. Assurance Practice Leadership Lead the planning, execution, and review of complex audit and assurance engagements. Oversee audits conducted in accordance with U.S. GAAP, Government Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance, and applicable nonprofit reporting requirements. Ensure engagement quality, risk management, and compliance with professional standards. Monitor practice performance, profitability, and resource allocation. Business Development & Growth Drive growth initiatives within the nonprofit sector. Develop new client relationships and expand existing engagements. Represent the firm at industry conferences, community events, and nonprofit associations. Build strategic relationships with community leaders, boards, and referral sources. Team Development Mentor and develop managers, senior managers, and emerging leaders. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on professional growth and client service excellence. Participate in recruiting, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives. Qualifications Active CPA license required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 12+ years of progressive public accounting experience with significant assurance leadership responsibilities. Prior Partner, Principal, or Director-level experience preferred. Extensive experience serving Not-for-Profit organizations. Strong knowledge of: Single Audits and Uniform Guidance Government Auditing Standards Internal controls and risk assessment Board governance and advisory services Proven success in client management and business development. Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing professional teams. What you'll do Serve as the primary engagement partner on a diverse portfolio of not-for-profit audit and assurance engagements, including financial statement audits, single audits under Uniform Grant Guidance, and Florida Single Audit Act engagements. Provide strategic advisory services to nonprofit leadership on governance, internal controls, operational efficiency, and compliance with OMB Super Circular and related federal and state regulations. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of audit professionals — managers, seniors, and staff — with a genuine investment in their growth and career trajectory. Drive business development efforts by cultivating relationships with nonprofit boards, executive directors, foundations, and community organizations across North Central Florida and beyond. Oversee Form 990 preparation and review in coordination with the tax practice, ensuring accurate reflection of the organization's mission and activities. Serve as a technical resource and thought leader on emerging NFP accounting and auditing standards, including ASC 958, ASU updates, and FASB pronouncements affecting the sector. Collaborate cross-functionally with the firm's tax, advisory, HR solutions, and controllership teams to deliver holistic, mission-aligned client service. Participate in firm leadership initiatives, internal training programs, and professional community engagements as a representative of the practice. Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and billing to ensure high-quality, efficient delivery across the client base. What you bring Active CPA license in the State of Florida (or eligibility for Florida reciprocity) — required. 15+ years of public accounting experience, with at least 3 years at the Partner or Director level with signing authority. Deep technical expertise in nonprofit audit and assurance, including single audits, Uniform Grant Guidance, the Florida Single Audit Act, and OMB Super Circular. AICPA Not-for-Profit Section membership or equivalent specialized credentialing strongly preferred. Demonstrated track record in business development — ability to originate, close, and grow client relationships in the nonprofit sector. Proven experience leading and mentoring multi-level audit teams with a people-first approach to performance management. Proficiency with CCH ProFx Engagement or equivalent audit technology platforms; comfort with Microsoft Office Suite. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — ability to present complex technical findings clearly to boards of directors, audit committees, and executive leadership. Strong organizational instincts with the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements across varied nonprofit entity types. Community engagement and local professional network in the Gainesville/North Central Florida region a significant plus.
