Director, Data Science - GenAI - Neuroscience

Director of Data Science role focused on designing and deploying generative AI and agentic AI solutions for neuroscience R&D at Johnson & Johnson. The position leads a multidisciplinary team to build scalable AI tools that accelerate scientific discovery, working across clinical, omics, and imaging data while establishing responsible AI practices and driving measurable value.
Responsibilities
- Define neuroscience AI strategy, portfolio, roadmap, and value metrics
- Build and deploy scalable agentic and generative AI solutions for priority research needs
- Own delivery, investment decisions, and outcomes for the neuroscience AI portfolio
- Establish evaluation standards, expert validation, and responsible AI governance practices
- Guide multidisciplinary teams and partner with scientists to prioritize needs, validate solutions, and drive adoption
Requirements
- PhD in computer science, computational biology, genetics, genomics, medical informatics, or related quantitative field; or MS with additional relevant experience
- 8+ years experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare analytics with technical direction setting
- Hands-on experience within last 18 months building agentic systems and deploying generative AI, NLP, or LLM-based solutions
- Strong Python skills and sound software engineering practices
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical delivery and cross-organizational influence
- Demonstrated ability to assess scientific evidence critically and define priorities with measurable outcomes
- Strong communication skills across technical, scientific, and senior stakeholder audiences
