Compensation: $35.00–$45.00 per hour
Estimated Annual Salary: $72,800–$93,600

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) / Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all nursing and medical services within a residential behavioral health treatment facility serving adolescents. This leadership position ensures high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based nursing care while maintaining compliance with all applicable state licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. The Director of Nursing provides clinical leadership to nursing staff, collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary treatment team, oversees medication management, and promotes a safe therapeutic environment that supports the recovery and well-being of adolescents with mental health and co-occurring disorders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         Provide leadership and supervision to all nursing staff.

·         Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures.

·         Ensure compliance with Georgia regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation standards.

·         Oversee medication administration and medication management.

·         Complete nursing assessments upon admission and throughout treatment.

·         Review and implement physician orders.

·         Monitor residents for changes in physical or mental health status.

·         Coordinate care with psychiatrists, primary care providers, pharmacies, and specialists.

·         Ensure timely completion of nursing documentation.

·         Maintain medication storage, inventory, controlled substance logs, and disposal records.

·         Respond to medical emergencies.

·         Participate in treatment team meetings and discharge planning.

·         Oversee infection prevention and control.

·         Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

·         Provide staff orientation, education, and competency assessments.

·         Participate in regulatory surveys and accreditation visits.

·         Promote a safe therapeutic environment for adolescent residents.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Active Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

·         BSN preferred; ADN considered with relevant leadership experience.

·         Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, residential treatment, substance use treatment, or adolescent mental health.

·         Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

·         Current CPR/BLS certification.

·         Ability to pass criminal background and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience working with adolescents.

·         Knowledge of trauma-informed care.

·         Experience with psychiatric medication management.

·         Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR).

·         Familiarity with Joint Commission and Georgia behavioral health regulations.

·         Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

·         Ability to work in a behavioral health environment with adolescents experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.
