CDL Driver - Lexington, VA

The CDL Driver operates heavy equipment of various types to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines. This role requires an active Class A CDL.

Essential functions include following and enforcing safe practices and rules, assisting in preparing equipment and materials for each day's work, operating equipment as directed, maintaining and repairing equipment and tools, assisting other crew members, cleaning up and disposing of debris, setting up barriers and signs to protect employees and the public, staying informed on new equipment and practices, tracking and reporting mileage, and performing duties for storm work as needed.

Equipment Operators have no direct reports.

Prior heavy equipment operating experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of daily maintenance and safe operations of all equipment used, physical strength and good balance, ability to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions, ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance, ability to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR, ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), good vision and attentiveness, ability to maintain a Driver's License and Class A CDL and DOT Medical Card, ability to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information, ability to maintain balance over uneven terrain, ability to communicate with others, and endurance to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job. Must meet I-9 requirements.
