Expected Hours 40 – 60 per week

Travel Local and overnight; per diem and lodging provided

About the Role

SUSCO, LLC is expanding our telecom construction crews and is seeking experienced Driller/Locator Operators to support broadband installation projects across the region. This role is essential in helping deliver high-speed internet to underserved communities through Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Reconnect/RDOF builds.

The Driller/Locator will operate directional drilling rigs, locating systems, and support equipment for telecom infrastructure projects, working alongside professional crews using high-quality equipment, including Subsite Marksman & F2+ locating systems and Ditch Witch, Vermeer, and Universal drilling rigs.

Key Responsibilities

• — Operate directional drilling rigs, locating equipment, mini-excavators, mud pumps, and mud-mixing systems.
• — Perform horizontal directional drilling (HDD) while following strict safety guidelines.
• — Dig trenches/holes and support all required site preparation activities.
• — Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment.
• — Collaborate with crew members to plan and execute daily drilling operations.
• — Maintain full compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies.
• — Monitor bore paths, adjust techniques, and ensure accurate drill shots.

Required Skills & Experience

• — Minimum 2 years of experience in directional drilling or locating (required).
• — Proficient in operating small HDD rigs (25-ton and smaller).
• — Strong mechanical skills for diagnosing and repairing equipment issues.
• — Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites.
• — Strong communication, teamwork, and situational awareness.
• — Familiarity with OSHA and general construction safety procedures.
• — Valid driver's license (required).

Preferred Qualifications

• — Experience with FTTH and RDOF projects (preferred, not required).
