Food Service Worker

Compensation $15.00 per hour; plus a $500 new hire bonus. Location Inside a jail/correctional facility. Responsibilities Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food preparation and service shifts. Prepare, assist, or instruct in the preparation of quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions. Ensure food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner. Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures. Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes and nutritional requirements. Follow all food safety regulations regarding sanitation, handling, and storage. Train other food service workers. Maintain a clean work area, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment. Follow facility uniform policy. Keep up with garbage collection and maintain clean kitchen floors. Sweep, mop, and dishwash to keep the environment ready for food prep and serving. Review portions and utensils for service quality. Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates. Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods. Be ready to stand and remain on feet for most of the scheduled shift. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred. Benefits Medical coverage with prescription options.
