Job Title: High School Teacher FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: High School Principal Days per Year: 185 Job Location: Highland High School Hours per Week: 40+ Revision Date: March 6, 2026 Pay Range: Licensed Salary Schedule Summary: High School Teachers are responsible for instructing students in grades 9-12. They create lesson plans and well-rounded, comprehensive instructional programs. This particular position would be responsible for teaching science, primarily Earth Science, and plant/crop science for agriculture. Primary Responsibilities: Develop course content in relation to the Colorado Academic Standards Plan, organize, and implement effective instructional strategies and lessons Monitor and evaluate student progress Collaborate with colleagues in department and building level administration Develop individualized lessons and programs for students as needed Communicate students' academic progress and needs with appropriate stakeholders Administer, edit, proofread, and grade student work in a timely manner Any and all other duties as assigned Requirements: Bachelor's Degree with a teaching certification is preferred, but not required Endorsement, certification, degree, passing PRAXIS score, or being highly qualified in area of instruction is preferred, but not required Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado Teaching License.
