UAS Whalesong Ad Manager Fall 2026 - Spring 2027

The UAS Whalesong Advertising Manager will oversee advertising strategies for the student newspaper. These include updating and developing Whalesong advertising materials; selling advertisements for the Whalesong website, social media pages, and print materials; and potentially helping the advertiser create ads. The position requires a self-motivated, outgoing person with effective oral and written communication skills. All Whalesong employees will attend weekly Whalesong meetings and work closely with the entire Whalesong staff and faculty advisor.

During the Academic Year 2026-27, Whalesong employees have the option of hourly payment or a paid Whalesong internship of 1 – 3 credits, resulting in a tuition waiver. Students who choose payment will receive $14.38 per hour. Those who prefer an internship will receive academic credit and a grade for their work. All students will work under the supervision of Dr. Rosemarie Alexander-Isett, Whalesong faculty advisor. All Whalesong employees will attend weekly staff meetings, must be able to meet deadlines, and may be asked to periodically promote the newspaper at UAS and Juneau community events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled as a UAS student taking a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

This is a part-time student position located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK.
