The Deli Cook is a vital member of our team, responsible for preparing delicious and high-quality food items while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role requires a strong understanding of cooking techniques, food safety and sanitation, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should be detail‑oriented, possess excellent time management skills, and thrive in a fast‑paced restaurant operation. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, and sides, following established recipes and standards. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to strict sanitation guidelines and food safety protocols. Be able to cook all types of foods such as meats, seafood, and vegetables. Use various methods of cooking: frying, grilling, roasting, and sautéing. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, and slicers, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness. Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries and special requests with a positive attitude. Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients. Collaborate effectively with other team members, demonstrating teamwork and a positive work ethic. Monitor food inventory and report any shortages or discrepancies to the deli manager. Adhere to all operation procedures, including opening and closing duties. Practice effective time management to ensure timely food preparation and service. Maintain a focus on food safety and sanitation throughout all stages of food handling. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods. Possession of a valid Food Handler's Card. General knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Demonstrated ability to be detail‑oriented. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a deli or similar food service environment.
