Summary The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: "To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." This role performs a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management, including cashiering, merchandise displays, pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. The LIT and Floor Leader works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership. Essential Duties And Responsibilities This description outlines the general nature and level of work performed by teammates assigned to this job. Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs and desires. Anticipate and fulfill guests’ needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience. Demonstrate products utilizing product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge and education with the team. Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices. Remain consistent on personal sales, while seeking opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG). Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by store management. Provide legendary service throughout the store in the front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area. Be knowledgeable of all exchange and return procedures and exhibit the ability to turn them into a showmanship opportunity. Fill out and effectively use the SPG daily to accomplish goals. Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty categories. Investigate and navigate how to expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc. Maintain and build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business. Lead by example with a high level of showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness. Recognize and communicate guest levels with the team. Passion for asking business‑driven and showmanship questions to managers, team leaders, and teammates. Coachable – allow managers to educate in their sales presentation. Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Consistently recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and teammate recommend programs. Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating, and educating new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards daily. Maintain a positive attitude at all times to create a positive floor culture. Demonstrate personal dress code and coach teammates and leaders on the latest fashion. Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting, and reviewing while utilizing the Performance Tracker. Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks. Passion for demonstrating, coaching, and influencing results of denim showmanship and denim fit cards through teammates and guests. Create and develop results in the department and balance all DM actions within the segment while completing the mid‑week check‑in. Demonstrate leadership actions during the segment: Awareness of guests in the store and ensuring they are being helped. Demonstrate how to get the guest involved with product. Be vocal and continuously update fellow leaders and the team. Responsible for getting guest names. Understand and work the guys side/gal side to benefit both teammates and guests. Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership: Product knowledge, placement, passion, preference. Weekly checklist. Life cycle of product. Track results. Recognize and assign zones and projects to teammates daily with a specific learning goal in mind. Confirm teammates are following visual standards, visual library, and weekly visual checklist throughout their shift with urgency and accountability. Execute and demonstrate all new tools and videos applicable to zone ownership, taking initiative in knowing and applying zone ownership questions. Show aptitude in recognizing merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and product life cycle, communicating recommendations and solutions to the store manager. Give informative and influential store tours. Ensure the sales floor is consistently sized and new freight is appropriately displayed. Operations Work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Understand and utilize the planner, completing opening and closing checklists. Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations. Follow all loss prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks. Execute and teach all POS procedures. Appropriately handle calls from corporate office. Know Buckle guidelines for handling returns and exchanges. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with challenging situations involving guests or teammates. Execute all policies regarding payments, exchanges, and loss prevention practices. Navigate and execute all tools on the home page. Provide guidance and feedback to all non‑sales positions. Complete all scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed. Provide feedback to the store manager and leadership team regarding merchandise handling concerns. Communicate any policy violations and teammate or guest concerns to the store manager, district manager, and/or human resources in a timely, confidential manner. Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store to fulfill Buckle’s mission statement. Apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies, procedures, and handbooks. Supervisory and Leadership Comfortable in giving and receiving feedback from peers and management. Supportive of leadership. Promote personal and store growth. Demonstrate and maintain a professional, mature, and stable relationship with all teammates. Fulfill the mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the teammate regularly works in a retail store setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
