Unit Secretary duties include, but are not limited to, the transcription and data entry of physician orders, retrieving patient information, maintaining patients' data records, answering phones, taking and reporting messages, running errands, delivery and pick up of specimens and supplies, as well as ordering and restocking of unit supplies. Responsibilities Reports for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities. Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for information communicated at meetings. Adheres to Corporate, Regional, hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time. Assists all patients, family members, physicians, visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner. Follows Infection Control procedures at all times. Adheres to the Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Security issues, i.e., personal protection, protection of personnel and hospital property. Adheres to the following environmental care standards. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations. Qualifications EDUCATION. Minimum:High School Diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Previous Patient Care Technician experience preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION: Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) or E.M.T. and documented evidence of successful completion of an accredited nursing school program. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) – 90 days from hired date OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: None required.
