After-School Group Leader Boston's Bridge to Excellence (BBTE)

Position Type: Part-Time | Non-Exempt
Pay: $18.00–$22.00/hour (based on qualifications)

Schedule

Monday–Friday (School Year)

• Before School: 7:30 AM–9:30 AM (as assigned)
• After School: 2:00 PM–6:00 PM (as assigned)
• Early Release/Half Days: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM (as assigned)

Additional hours may be available during school vacations, professional development days, and summer programs.

Boston's Bridge to Excellence (BBTE) is a nonprofit organization providing high-quality before-school, after-school, and summer programs throughout Massachusetts. We partner with schools and families to create safe, engaging, and enriching learning environments where children develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Position Summary

The After-School Group Leader supervises school-age children while creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment. This position is responsible for curriculum planning, homework support, enrichment activities, classroom management, and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise students and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
• Develop, implement, and submit weekly curriculum and lesson plans aligned with BBTE program goals.
• Plan engaging activities incorporating literacy, math, STEM, arts, recreation, social-emotional learning, and character development.
• Assist students with homework and academic enrichment.
• Maintain attendance, daily documentation, and incident reports.
• Implement positive behavior management strategies.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain an organized learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and school staff.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
• Follow all BBTE policies and Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with children in education, childcare, recreation, or youth programs preferred.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
• Reliable, professional, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of:

• CORI, SORI, and fingerprint-based background checks (when applicable)
• Verification of work authorization
• Compliance with Massachusetts EEC educator requirements
• Completion of BBTE onboarding and required trainings

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 30 pounds, participate in indoor and outdoor activities, and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
