Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Ambulatory Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/29/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, rotating Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Outpatient Position Summary Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care, achieving the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person when required, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care. Supports the mission of the organization and is responsible for the care of all patients from birth to elderly. Position Qualifications Completion of a nursing program from an NLN approved institution. Preferred one year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a valid license in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. The successful candidate will be required to pass and maintain competencies for this position. Proficiency in the use of office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine). Knowledge of medical equipment appropriate for the position (e.g., EKG, Cystoscopy). Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to practice nursing as per the Alaska Statutes regarding the practice of Registered Nursing. Cognitive and technical knowledge required to manage care across the continuum. Flexibility with work schedule and ability for independent actions within prescribed limits. Competence in the nursing process for patient care provision. Ability to administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients and families. Basic EKG and nursing skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals and technical procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and effectively present information. Ability to compute values and interpret graphs; manage and input computer information. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Experience supervising Unit Secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
